Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

OK so lets talk about my story.... Its a little hmmmm different.
I found myself alone on the streets of Philadelphia now if anyone has every been to Philly it can be a little SCARY especially for a little one like me! I was picked up and taken to this place called a shelter WOW you want to talk about scary! They stuck me in a steel cage!! It was noisy!!! I sat as far back in the corner as I could just trying to disappear :( I was shaking so bad I couldn't stop :( A lady walked by and stopped and said oh honey its going to be OK. She seemed pretty sure but I definitely wasn't :( She said I will be back to get you.... When she walked away I thought to myself I hope she is telling me the truth!!
I had to spend the night and I heard one of the people say "he only has until tomorrow" they didn't look very happy :( I was REALLY scared!! I didn't sleep much :( The next day the lady I met came back and scooped me out of the cage and gave me a big hug and kiss and said see I told you I'd be back! I was SOOO happy!!!
The shelter called me Mr. Clean. I don't know why I was really dirty and full of mats and A GIRL!! The nice lady took me home and we sat on her bathroom floor and she cut my mats out for a loooooong time but she was really gentle, she rolled me over to do my belly and after cutting away some really big mats she looked confused and said "Mr. Clean you are missing your "junk" YOU my friend are Mrs. Clean" and she started laughing. I thought to myself I could have told you that from the beginning :) She gave me a really nice warm bath and then the next day she took me for what she called a "Spa Day". That was really nice. I had a pedicure and my hair done and I felt like a movie start. It was LOTS of fun!!!
I then met my new foster mommy & daddy and they are GREAT and I have a house full of Shih Tzu's to keep me company! We call it Shih Tzu Haven! YAY life is really good and my foster mommy and daddy say I will have a forever home soon that will NEVER treat me bad and will ALWAYS love me :)

Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
