Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

OK so I am a female and maybe a little emotional but seriously I have been through a lot and I'm not a basket case so I'd say that I am a pretty tough cookie.
My story starts when my best friend was hit on the road. It was REALLY scary! I stayed with him and didn't leave his side but he never moved and when the people finally came to save us they said he was "gone". I thought no he isn't he's right here but then I realized they meant he was dead :( It made me really sad :( I didn't leave him but I couldn't save him either :( They picked me up and put me in the car and the next thing I knew I was in a very noisy shelter with a lot of other dogs :( The people were really nice but they seemed sad for me. They said I was old and there was something wrong with me heart :(
A nice lady that worked there took a picture of me and told me she was sending it to 2nd Chance. I didn't know what that meant but it seemed to make her happy so I felt better. A few days later they took me out of the shelter and put me in a nice persons house and she told me I was going to 2nd Chance.... Hmmmm what was this 2nd Chance place they kept talking about?? Then they put me in a van with other dogs and we took a long ride! We finally stopped and these ladies were waiting for me. They were really happy to see me and they put me in their car and the one girl let me sleep on her lap the whole ride! It was really cool :)
I then saw this lady getting out of her car and I just knew she was my foster mommy! I couldn't contain myself and for the first time in a long time I started howling. It was sooooo fun and she started laughing and gave me hugs! I LOVE her!!! I know she is my foster mommy but I thought I heard her whisper to my foster daddy that she wants to keep me!! I REALLY hope so! That would be Wooooooonnnnnnndddddddeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrfffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuullllllll
Ps. I went to 2nd Chance's vet, Dr. Clements and he says there is NOTHING wrong with my heart. Hmmmm I could have told him that :) It is just fine and full of love and joy :)

Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
PLEASE BE AWARE: Adoption questions are not website questions! If you have questions about adoption or a specific dog, fill out an Adoption Application and the dog's foster will get in touch with you.
