Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

My name is Chris and my foster mom says I’m about as sweet as they come. If you are looking for a lap dog and total lover, I’m your guy. Once I get to know you, I’ll follow you everywhere and will be happy to curl up on your lap. Hopefully you’ll want to give me a few belly rubs and kisses. I love them too!
My story doesn't start very good :( I was in a not so great home and they weren't taking care of me or "my lady friend". We were matted and I had an injury to my leg. It hurt really bad and I couldn’t walk on it but no one was helping me :( Thank goodness the shelter guy came and he told our owners they either signed us over or they would be going to court. They signed us over. It was sort of scary cause we didn't know what was going to happen. We then got put in a big van in different cages and that was REALLY scary cause my lady friend and I had never been separated and she was having my babies!! We finally stopped and 2 ladies took us to their car and they put us in a cage together with a really nice soft cushy blanket YAY!!! Then they took us to this special place called a doggie spa and they gave us baths and cut our mats out and made us look pretty good if I must say so myself. We even smelled good!!! It was amazing and then just when we thought things couldn't get any better they did! We went to this nice house with other dogs and a big fenced yard, good food and fluffy blankets to sleep on and they operated on my leg which feels much better now, thank you very much!
2nd Chance 4 Life hoped to find a forever home for both me and my lady friend but we had to be separated for a while after the babies were born and when we were reunited, the bond was no longer there ): Since then, my babies momma and all the babies have gone to their forever homes, and now it’s my turn to find my forever home!
Because I didn’t have a good early life, there are things I was never taught. For instance, I never learned how to leash walk, but I’m really good at it now and love to go for a walk every day. I learned early on not to be too trusting, so I’m very shy and sometimes scared around people I don’t know. I need a home with people who will be patient with me and help me to learn to trust. Although I may need a little help with some doggie skills, I have an incredibly sweet disposition, and nothing that’s happened to me in life has changed that! I’ve had way too many adventures for one little guy and am ready to settle in with my forever family!!
More about Chris
Good with Dogs, Good with Cats
Special Needs: Chris needs to have a fenced yard. He will not go to the bathroom while on a leash so needs to be able to roam freely in the yard.
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
