Chancey needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
Chancey is a super star dog that could definitely be a challenger in the smarter than a fifth grader category. You can tell by the look in his eye when you're teaching him something that he GETS it and terrifically enjoys learning. He shouldn't be left alone with your ham sandwich yet, but his house manners have improved dramatically in his foster home. He arrived in foster care with no training and within six weeks he has learned that he goes outside to go to the bathroom and he has mastered some basic commands. Chancey is just the right mix of loveable energy and couch potato and is an excellent companion. He is a dream on the leash, enjoys his two Newfie foster sisters and has been nothing but excellent with the four children in his foster home. He has a beautiful butterscotch and white coat with soulful brown eyes that just require you to pet him as often as possible. He's also shy around men at first, but warms up quickly when he knows that he is safe. Chancey is crate trained and would love to find his forever home. A fenced in yard or a strong commitment to leash walking is necessary as his breed mix drives him to chase small woodland creatures or random things that appear in his vision that might not seem of particular interest to the human eye. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs.
