Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

Hi! My name is Dungy, also affectionately known as Flat Stanley, from the childrens book, because I too was injured and survived and learned to make the best of my altered state, thanks to the WONDERFUL people at 2nd Chance! All is well now, as I have settled into the family dog life with my foster family of 3 pomeranian foster brothers, Mom and Dad and two teenagers. As a typical Chihuahua, I have asserted myself into the leadership position, thankfully my furry brothers are very forgiving of my bossy nature. My perfect home would be a calm environment where I won't have to be alone too long, as well as any furry resident pets need to be small and willing to submit to my alpha nature. I will also need a secure fenced in yard, as I have proven to be quite inquisitive and can find even the smallest of openings to see what else the world has to offer. I would be happiest and safest in a home with only adults, or with calm, responsible and understanding children over the age of 14. I am a cuddler and look forward to burrowing in my blankie on your lap. I am completely crate trained, and my housetraining has become perfect, provided you pay attention to my obvious cues! Do you have the time and heart to to help me continue my journey to understand that life is full of love and a gentle touch?
More about Dungy
Good with Dogs, Not Good with Cats, Is Not Good with Kids
Special Needs: Left grade 1 and right grade 2 luxating patella in rear legs. Non surgical at this time.
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
