2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)
When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application.
The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)
Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

Hello!  I'm Ammie.  I have been without my family for two weeks now.  All of these nice people have pulled together to try and help me and my sister Addie locate our family but to no avail we are now looking for a new forever family.  Addie and I love to play and run and sadly we got to far from our home and got lost which lead to us living in our current foster home.  Like I said I love to run and it is even better when I have something to fetch and bring back to my human.  I so much want to please my foster mommy and have been so good at holding it and only pottying outside after the the first day of making a few messes in the house.  Won't you please consider giving me a forever home where I have a loving human to cuddle with?

UPDATE March 12, 2012:  So since the last time we talked I have been trying to work on my high energy level and only using it when appropriate.  I sometimes still get a little over excited and jump a little too much but Im really trying.  I went for a ride to my foster family's cabin which is 4 hours away and only needed to stop once for a potty break.  Once there I loved taking walks in the woods and have been put tandum with one of the big dogs to work on my leash training.  That all works well as long as one of the big dogs does not take me into water too deep in the creek.  Foster mommy made sure the big dog did not teach me to swim lol.

Single Black Female seeks  companionship, ethnicity unimportant.  I'm a very good girl who LOVES to play.  I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, hunting, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire.  Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand.  I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me.... Please Consider me as your furever friend

Good with Dogs

Please fill out an adoption application:

Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.

A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
