Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
Cody Man needs a caretaker or foster!
Won't you consider helping him get a new start?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

Hi my name is Cody and my life has been anything but easy! My owners couldn't afford me but instead of giving me to someone who could they just allowed me to walk around their home without getting vet or grooming attention.
When 2nd Chance took me my formal owners said I was blind and they knew I was blind because 2 years ago my eyes starting oozing green stuff. When the director of 2nd Chance asked my owner what the vet said my owner replied oh we didn't take him to the vet we can't afford that. When we asked what the eyes looked like they replied oh we can't see them we can't afford the grooming.
We immediately went to pick up poor Cody who was so sad! We had no way to see his eyes since his hair had grown and matted across his face so badly that there was no way to get to them!
Cody went straight to our vet who realized the most compassionate way to examine poor Cody would be to put him under anesthesia, alter him and groom him while he slept. When his eyes were exposed they buldge just large black orbs who had not seen light in 2 years!!!
We have worked with Cody for approx. 2 months now. We believe Cody is regaining some sight and does great manuevering around the foster home and interacting with the other dogs. He seems to love children.
We would like to see Cody go to a one story home since stairs will be a problem for him.
7/23/2011 Cody had his photo taken for our upcoming cookbook. Veggies fit him perfectly because there is nothing he likes to do more than to "veg with his foster mom!"
6/5/2012 Cody is doing well and is acclimated in his foster home. He requires gel in his eyes every 2-3 hours. He gets 2 meds, one is $40 per month the other approx. $20. It will take someone very special to be able to give Cody what he needs.
2nd Chance sooooooo needs foster families so that more wonderful, loving dogs can be saved from taking their last breath won't you please consider opening your heart and home to just one furry one at a time????? PLEASE fill our a foster application we promise you won't regret it!

Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
