Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

My name is Princess but I wasn't treated like a Princess :( My family never ever took me to see a Vet not once :( I had no vaccinations. I started feeling really bad and no one seemed to care. I stopped eating because I felt so bad and then they picked me up and took me to a noisy place called a shelter. It was scary! The people there tried to be nice but they looked sad. The vet looked at me and he looked sad too and he said you need to get her out one way or the other today. I had a feeling that wasn't good because they looked really upset :( They put me in a cold steel cage in a noisy room with a lot of other pups that were really scared too :( I just curled up in the corner. I was there all day and then this lady came in and said where is Princess and she looked in every cage until she finally found me and she opened the door and picked me up and hugged me and it was really really nice!! She said your safe now and I knew I was cause she held me the whole way to the hospital and then she gave me a kiss and told me she would be back for me.
The Doctors at the hospital were really nice and they knew I didn't feel good and they figured out why. They left me go to sleep and fixed my belly and now I am feeling much better! In 2 weeks they are going to fix my teeth cause they hurt too!
My foster mommy says I am perfect. I think that's a good thing because she smiles when she says it. I like sleeping in bed with her! I feel special for the first time EVER :)
More about Princess
Good with Older/Considerate Kids Only, Good with Adults, Somewhat vocal, Does Good in the Car, Obedient, Affectionate, Eager To Please
Special Needs: Right now she is on Thyroid meds but we don't know if that is permanent.
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
