Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

Update: 2/14 ~ Good news! Daisy Mae only sprained her knee. She is off medical hold and ready for her new home with some relaxing time while her knee heals!!! Please consider giving her a safe and loving home to spend the rest of her life in. She truly is a sweet girl and just wants to be loved and she will give it back ten fold!
Update: Daisy Mae had her final behavior assessment on 2/5. She was a bit grumbly so a further physical check had indicated that she may have hurt her hip when she fell from the highway bridge during her "lost period". She is currently on hold until her vet check on 2/12. (Please check back soon for an update on her vet check.) We are still accepting applications for this incredibly wonderful, loving girl and looking for that perfect home for her to live life comfortably and happily. She truly is a real doll and is such a cuddler! She would be very happy to be the only dog and not have young children to spend her days with. She's a sweet soul who just wants to be loved and cared for without a lot of stress or activity in her environment. The perfect home would be a quite, laid-back couple or a single person home who will spend time with her relaxing, taking walks and just enjoying each other's company. She does not play with toys or other dogs, as I don't think she has had experience too much with cooperative playtimes. She does have the urge to play by getting into playbows, but I don't think she knows what to do next! She would probably enjoy someone to teach her what play is all about and that playtimes are fun! Let this girl into your life and she will give more love than you can ever imagine! She deserves it! She loves women! She would like the man of the house to be gentle and patient so she learns that she can trust and not be fearful. Her previous "Dad" may not have been so kind to her and probably was the decision maker in not taking her along to their new home. It takes some treats and a soft voice to win her over - she does enjoy cuddling with her Foster Dad. He was very patient and loving and she learned to trust him in no time!
DaisyMae spent the first 7 years of her life as part of a family. She was loyal and loving and then one day her family decided they needed to move and chose to not find a place where she could go along. The story is all to familiar. So, Daisy was dropped at a shelter in WV that is often so full of wonderful dogs that they have no choice but to put them to sleep not because they are biters or food aggressive, or dog aggressive etc but just because there is not enough space!!!! DaisyMae was lucky enough to be pulled by another rescue who had room, however, DaisyMae didn't understand that. She was depressed and scared as well we all would be if we were taken out of our home and thrown in a room with a whole bunch of people we did not know and forced to live in a small space. So when the van transporting DaisyMae stopped and her crate door opened DaisyMae bolted. No doubt hoping to find the family she had always known and loved. Instead she found herself alone, in a place she didn't know, very cold and scared! DaisyMae fought to stay alive through a snow storm and the horrible weather elements without food or shelter. Finally, 7 days later she was just so exhausted that she went and laid her tired, worn out body along the turnpike. A wonderful man spotted her and with the help of other rescuers they were able to finally catch her. DaisyMae is now recupperating and living with a wonderful foster family. She is not quite ready to be adopted but we are accepting applications so we can start the adoption process and find DaisyMae a home where she can relax and know she will never EVER be discarded again!
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
