Join Our Pack! On a daily basis, we have new foster dogs and cats coming into the system that need medical care, such as insulin, heart meds, allergy meds etc. Won't you be part of the pack and help with a monthly donation?
2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!

Astrid is a sweet and loving cat. She loves attention and sometimes purs until she shakes just from someone talking to her in a gentle voice.
Astrid is a Siamese mix. This means she not only has gorgeous fur and eyes but she also barely sheds. Siamese cats are partially hypoallergenic so most individuals with cat allergies will find that they are less allergic to a Siamese cat.
Astrid came under the care of a rescue due to her former owner being incarcerated. She is about 3 years old and would love a forever home.
Astrid was previously an only cat so it may take her some time to get used to any other cats in her new home. When exposed to other cats in her foster home she is not physically aggressive. Astid has an adverse reaction to catnip and should not be given catnip toys.
While Astrid loves attention, she has a limit where she decides to be done for a while. She will provide warnings by wagging her tail and then lightly patting your hand with her paw. This is the moment that she is done and will cause minor pain if someone tries to pet her again. Even after reaching her limit, Astrid continues to love being near people and listen to gentle conversation. This behavior will likely get better over time so long as Astrid's owners are patient with her.
If you have any questions or would like to meet Astrid please fill out an application. Thank you for considering making this sweet cat part of your family. Astrid is a spayed female. She is up to date on her vaccines and tested negative for FIV/FeLV. Astrid's adoption fee is $75 to help cover her medical expenses while in the care of the rescue.
Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.
A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!
